Well blow me down with a feather!
Someone speaking "Indonesian" searched on Google Indonesia "iklan sabun giv" and found my entries on Giv soap and proceeded to visit seven pages corresponding, more or less, to all my entries on the aforesaid.
I can only wonder whether it was their beautiful model or their advertising department?

Giv - with Rose Oil

This is definitely one for the girls ...
"Rose oil gives a luxurious and smooth skin feeling. With feminine perfume for a romantic personality".
Although I've been using this gloriously pink addition to Giv's range of beauty products, my body hair has not diminished and Morais has not remarked on any feminine traits developing.
I have also just noticed that it is "International" (top right) ... indeed, if it makes its way from Indonesia to our tiny country of São Tomé e Príncipe!

Giv - with Warm Olive Oil
The advertising agency for Giv soap never ceases to amaze me ... "Warm olive oil is rich in protein & natural oil ingredients, making your skin healthy and shimmering. With exotic perfume for an exotic personality." Hints here of the effects of Daly's Skin Shimmer. Now we all know olive oil is good for you. Why warm, as opposed to cool, olive oil has an additional quality I really don't know. And the ingredients list olive oil "extract", whatever that is. However, what is really interesting about this soap is its colour. The last time I bought Marseillaise olive oil soap, it was, as you would expect, olive green in colour. Not so with Giv ... see below.

Is this a new variety of olive?
And I am now really mystified as to which variety of Giv their model is using - a different one each day? She must be elegant, exotic, energetic, refreshing etc etc all at the same time! Sounds like the woman of my dreams!

Giv - with Soy Bean Extract
We all know that soya beans are packed with protein and good for you ... but did you know this about soya bean soap?
"Soy bean extract is well-known for its benefit to make skin bright and smooth. With classic perfume for an elegant personality."
Morais noted that Give with Soy Bean Extract also contains coconut oil and palm oil - it should be triply good for frying my eggs!
As Giv with Pearl Extract and Giv with Curcuma didn't quite "do it" for me, I'm giving the latest variety a trial-run.
I'm a bit disappointed that Giv Soya and Giv Curcuma use the same model on their packaging - which does she use?

Quackery
... or "Mr Morais' Patent Dermatologicgal Lotion". This product claims to clear up a whole range of skin problems - heat and sweat rashes, acne, spots and a whole lot more as well as promising, like my favourite soap products Giv, Lux and Santex, general cleansing properties that will leave your skin ... well, just SO.
Now this blog, since its beginning, has been a vehement opponent of quack medicine. Since, on Day 1 of Kezia's treatment, her consultant warned us of the dangers of of the quackery regarding leukaemia treatment out here on the Internet, I have become aware of the amount of quackery bullshit out there regarding any complaint you can think of.
However, "Mr Morais' Patent Dermatologicgal Lotion" is different and I have personal faith in it (especially since I saw the immdediate effect of Daly's Skin Shimmer last week). Mr Morais, the lotion's inventor, is a personal friend of mine and is someone in whom I have total confidence and I believe vice versa. Last week he confided in me the lotion's secret ingredient ...
Duck Dung!
Quack Quack ... contact me if you're interested!

Daly Skin Shimmer
"When I want to pull out all the stops, this is the product I reach for, it really is over the top glamour and sex appeal at its best! The body oil gives an unbelievable sheen and the soft glitter particles leave a high shimmer glow that's addictive!"
My boss' ex-spouse (in the UK) sent him a few tubes in an effort to seduce him into a second honeymoon in the Canaries! He hasn't fallen for it but we applied some to our colleague Americo who was unable to wash it off and went home fearful of how his wife would react!
Moreover, it's on sale in Marks and Spencers!
Update: We gather it works ... but not quite in the way Americo expected! When he got home last night it certainly raised passions ... "Where the hell have you been?" etc etc!

GIV - with Curcuma

I previously posted about Giv soap with Pearl Extract promising me Refreshing Beauty and Lux with Youthful Essence - neither seemed to work. So now I am trying Giv with Toning Curcuma "with an energizing perfume for an energetic personality". Let's see if this one works!

Soap
After my last entry on this subject ... Giv - With Pearl Extract ... which has made me neither healthier, richer nor wiser (nor an avid pearl diver!) I was faced this weekend with the choice of Lux with "Youthful Essence" or "medicated" Sanitex. A difficult decision to make so I bought a bar of each.
Lux with "Youthful Essence" does explain to me whether the essence is an ingredient or a quality. I have only been using it a few days so it is perhaps too early to say if it will make me more youthful. It has an impressive list of ingredients - Sodium Soap, Water, Perfume, Titanium Dioxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Ethane Hydroxl, Diphosphoric Acid, Olive and Grape Seed Extract, CL742600, CL11710. I'm not sure which of these is the essence of youth. As an aside, it declares "Only for sale in Indonesia". So a) the Indonesians want to keep the secret of youth to themselves and b) the is an internal soap smuggling trade.
Let's move to our "medicated" and "antiseptique" Sanitex for a "HEALTHY AND SOFT SKIN". Its list of ingredients is less impressive - Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Fragrance, Water. I cannot see any medication there unless Prince Charles believes Palm and Conunt Oil are antiseptic.
Perhaps Drs Crippen and Rant, Boots or my local pharmacist can elucidate?

Giv - the most expensive soap in the world
Pearl Extract?
Yup, you heard right - it's even in the list of ingredients!
And it claims on the side of the benefits of Pearl Extract - Natural sea minerals that cleanse your skin gently along with a Refreshing Perfume for dynamic personality as well as what you might expect in a bar of soap - Sodium Soap, Water, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide, Teta Sodium EDTA and CI 42051.
Made in Indonesia, I imagine impoverished pearl divers selling their pearls, and rather than embellishing the necks of rich western women, earning a pittance from the soap manufacturer.
Is there a glut in the pearl market?
Observing the rather charming young lady on the packaging, she must be using Pearl Extract toothpaste as well. I hope she can tell this man (and myself for that matter) what brand of toothpaste she uses.

If any of my readers, especially Ben Goldacre and Dr Crippen (please promote it to your patients, write to NICE so it can be prescribed in two years or so as a treatment for teenage acne), would like to sample the benefits of Pearl Extract, send me 20 Euros or an equivanlent hard currency to to allieve your consciences about impoverished Indonesian pearl divers, and the father of a daughter with leukaemia (come on there - I'm going to take a 5% cut for the trouble!).
